Pastichio (Greek Lasagna)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ziti
  • 1 lb chopped ground beef
  • 3/4 lb feta cheese, crumbled
  • 2 tsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 1-1/2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Directions

  1. Cook ziti, until al dente, then drain.
  2. Brown beef with 1/2 stick butter (or margarine) and tomato paste. Add salt and pepper. Add remaining ingredients (except eggs). Remove from heat and let mixture cool completely.
  3. Once cool, add the beaten eggs and the cooked ziti.
  4. Grease a 13x9-inch pan and pour mixture (with ziti) into pan. Bake at 350F for 60 minutes, or until lightly browned. Serve at once.
